Money Bomb

A money bomb (also commonly referred to as a moneybomb, money-bomb or fundraising bomb) is grassroots effort to support a political candidate by setting up a specific time (usually a 24 hour period) to donate money. By creating a money bomb, not only does the candidate receive funds, but can also receive free media coverage for the effort

What a money bomb does is help to democratize political fundraising. It allows the citizens to make small contributions individually combined together in the time period as a group that allows it to compete with companies and special interest groups in the amount of money that can be raised. Even better, because the money bomb is made up of individuals making small contributions, they can successfully create a money bomb a number of times during the political campaign since the people donating don't run up aganst contribution limits.

To date, the most famous money bombs have been the Ron Paul money bombs. The Ron Paul money bomb on November 5, 2007 raised $4.2 million while a Ron Paul money bomb on December 16, 2007 raised $6.03 million. A Dennis Kucinich money bomb raised a little over $100,000 on December 15, 2007
